Common Birthday Celebration
Holy Spirit Major Seminary Celebrates Common Birthday
On the evening of 31 October 2025 at 8:15 p.m., all the seminarians, the Rector and the staff members celebrated a common birthday event at Holy Spirit Major Seminary (HSMS) in Banani, Dhaka.
The celebration brought together seminarians, the Seminary’s Rector and administrative staff in a joyful and unified gathering. The common birthday theme added a special sense of shared joy and solidarity across the entire seminary community.
The evening commenced with a short prayer and welcome address by Rev Fr. Francis Murmu, acknowledging the gift of life and the bond of fraternity that holds the community together.
A specially decorated birthday cake was cut by the Rector and staff members along with seminarians selected to represent their group, marking the moment in unity. The atmosphere was described as warm and collegial not just a birthday celebration, but a meaningful affirmation of belonging and mission.
At HSMS, formation is not only intellectual or spiritual but also deeply communal. The shared birthday celebration underscores the values of fraternity, mutual care and joyful service that the seminary emphasises. It reminds everyone that in their journey of priestly formation, they walk together as companions, staff and students alike.
At the heart of the evening, the Rector, Rev. Fr. Paul Gomes, shared a short life experience speech, reflecting on the importance of gratitude, simplicity, and community life. His words deeply inspired the seminarians, reminding everyone that priestly formation is not only a personal journey but also a shared calling rooted in love and service.
Rev. Fr. Stanley Costa, the Seminary’s Spiritual Director, offered the final blessing, invoking God’s grace upon all who share life in the Holy Spirit Seminary community. With his blessing, the program came to a peaceful and heartfelt conclusion.
The common birthday celebration beautifully expressed the spirit of communion that defines seminary life. It was a reminder that every life is a gift from God, and when celebrated together, it strengthens the bonds of friendship, gratitude, and mission among all members of the seminary family.
