Semestral Debate Competition
The Holy Spirit Institute organized its Semestral Debate Competition for Philosophy and Theology students on October 11, 2025, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the seminary auditorium.
The event featured two engaging and thought-provoking debate sessions. The Philosophy 2nd Year students participated in the English debate on the theme “Yellow Journalism Destroys the Truth,” where participants discussed the ethical responsibilities of media and the dangers of sensational reporting.
Meanwhile, the Theology 1st Year students took part in the Bengali debate on the topic “ধর্মীয় গোড়ামিই মানব উন্নয়নের বাধাঁ” (“Religious Fundamentalism is an Obstacle to Human Development”). Their discussion highlighted the tension between faith, extremism, and social progress.
All students of the Holy Spirit Institute attended the event, contributing to an atmosphere of intellectual enthusiasm and academic excellence. The debates encouraged critical thinking, communication skills, and the spirit of dialogue among future philosophers and theologians.
The program concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winning groups. The Rector of the Holy Spirit Major Seminary graciously presented the awards, commending the students for their outstanding performance and dedication.
