Dhaka, 1 September 2026: Eleven deacons have returned to Holy Spirit Major Seminary, Banani, to participate in a special one-month formation course designed to prepare them for their future ministry in the Church.

The special course officially began on 1 September 2026 and will continue throughout the month. It brings together the eleven deacons for a period of prayer, study, reflection, fellowship, and pastoral preparation as they move closer to their future priestly ministry.

The course focuses particularly on the future ministry and pastoral responsibilities of the priests. Through various classes, discussions, spiritual conferences, practical sessions, and community activities, the deacons will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of priestly ministry and to reflect on the responsibilities they will undertake in serving the People of God.

The programme seeks to connect their theological and spiritual formation with the practical realities of pastoral ministry. Topics related to pastoral leadership, preaching, administration, parish ministry, spiritual accompaniment, sacramental ministry, community life, and other dimensions of priestly service will help the deacons prepare themselves for the mission entrusted to them by the Church.

Their return to the seminary also provides an opportunity to renew their fraternal bonds and to share their experiences of formation and pastoral preparation with one another. Living together again in the seminary community for a month, they are encouraged to support one another through prayer, reflection, and mutual sharing.

As they continue this special course throughout September, the seminary community accompanies the deacons with prayer and encouragement, asking the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen them as they prepare to serve God's people with humility, dedication, and pastoral love.
